Nairobi, Kenya – According to the latest weather forecast from the Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) for the period of August 12th to 18th, 2025, Kenyans should prepare for an increase in rainfall and isolated storms in several regions.
The KMD report indicates that the Central Highlands, Western Kenya, and North-western Kenya are most likely to experience these isolated storms. The forecast also warns of intermittent cold and cloudy conditions over parts of the Central Highlands, Western Kenya, the South-eastern Lowlands, and the Rift Valley.
Temperature variations are also a key part of the forecast, with some areas facing extreme heat while others experience chilly conditions. Daytime temperatures are expected to soar above 30°C in much of North-eastern and North-western Kenya. Conversely, night-time lows are likely to drop below 10°C in parts of the Central Highlands, Central Rift Valley, and areas near Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Strong winds are also a concern, with southerly to south-easterly winds exceeding 25 knots (12.86 m/s) expected over the Coast (including Kenya’s territorial waters), South-eastern Lowlands, North-eastern, and North-western Kenya.
