NAIROBI – The African Group of Negotiators on Climate Change (AGNES) has launched a call for applications, inviting qualified climate professionals from across the continent to join its new Experts Sub-Database. This initiative aims to create a diverse pool of reviewers who will contribute their expertise to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) assessment cycle.

The call highlights the critical importance of the IPCC review process in ensuring that climate science is rigorous, credible, and relevant on a global scale. By becoming a reviewer, African experts will have the opportunity to directly influence the global climate reports that shape policies, strategies, and funding decisions worldwide.

AGNES is seeking experts with a minimum of five years of experience and a strong background in climate-related research, policy, or practice. The invitation is extended to professionals in a wide range of fields, including climate science, adaptation and vulnerability, mitigation, and urban climate issues. This encompasses specializations from atmospheric physics and ecosystem-based adaptation to renewable energy and climate finance.

Joining the database offers significant professional benefits, including the chance to contribute to international climate policy, collaborate with leading global experts, and enhance one’s professional profile within the global climate community.
