Djibouti Launches National Workshop to Strengthen Emergency Telecommunications

DJIBOUTI, August 10, 2025 (ADI) – In response to the increasing frequency and intensity of natural and technological disasters, Djibouti launched a national workshop on Sunday to strengthen its emergency telecommunications and update its national plan in this critical area.

The event, organized by the Ministry of Interior through the Executive Secretariat for Risk and Disaster Management, in collaboration with the Ministry of Telecommunications, aims to “strengthen the skills of the relevant stakeholders” and improve the coordination of relief efforts, according to the organizers.

The opening ceremony was presided over by the Minister of Communication, in charge of Posts and Telecommunications, Radwan Abdillahi Bahdon.

Several officials attended, including the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Interior, Souleiman Moumin; the Executive Secretary for Risk and Disaster Management, Ahmed Mohamed Madar; the Director General of RTD, Aden Abdi Djama; and the Director of the National Meteorological Agency, Mohamed Ismaël Nour. Representatives from UN agencies, including the UNDRR, were also present.

This workshop is part of Djibouti’s commitment to strengthening national resilience against major risks by focusing on prevention, preparation, and rapid response. The initiative is supported by a robust communication network designed to function even during a crisis.
