On Thursday, the sessions concentrated on a detailed evaluation of the URCS’s internal frameworks concerning migration. According to IFRC Africa, the key focus areas included a thorough review of the society’s Policy, Strategy & Standards, its Analysis and Planning processes, its overall Operational Capacity, and its mechanisms for Coordination and Operational Support.

A significant part of the day’s agenda involved interactive roleplaying exercises. These simulations presented participants with various migration scenarios, providing a practical platform to test and evaluate current procedures.

The exercises were instrumental in identifying the organization’s existing strengths while also clearly mapping out areas that require further development to meet the growing needs of vulnerable populations.

The overarching aim of the workshop is to strengthen the Uganda Red Cross Society’s ability to provide effective and comprehensive assistance to migrants, refugees, and the host communities that support them. By refining its strategic and operational capabilities, the URCS is positioning itself to address the complex challenges of migration more effectively.
