NAIROBI, KENYA – [August 12, 2025] – The DARAJA project team, in a collaborative effort with key partners, has successfully concluded a week-long workshop aimed at enhancing the new weather and climate bulletin produced by the Sudan Meteorological Authority (SMA). This intensive session, held at the facilities of the IGAD Climate Prediction and Applications Centre (ICPAC) in Nairobi, Kenya, marks a significant step forward in preparing for the national launch of the DARAJA Sudan Service.

The workshop brought together representatives from Resurgence, the Sudan Urban Development Think-Tank (SUDTT), and the SMA. The primary objective was to streamline and standardize the bulletin production process to ensure the final product is both accurate and accessible to users. A key outcome of the week was the development of clear Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and the strengthening of quality assurance measures. These protocols are designed to ensure the bulletins are not only user-friendly but also easy to produce consistently.

Throughout the week, participants engaged in a comprehensive review of existing processes and products. They worked together to align on practical improvements and developed a clear framework for effective communication, monitoring, and evaluation of the service. This collaborative approach has laid the groundwork for the consistent and continuous improvement of the weather and climate information provided to the Sudanese public.
