Nairobi, Kenya – The 11th National Climate Outlook Forum (NCOF-11) began today in Nairobi, focused on creating a specialized climate forecast for Kenya’s upcoming short-rains season, from October to December 2025. The event was officially opened by Ms. Linda Kosgei, Director of MEAS, who spoke on behalf of the Principal Secretary for the State Department for Environment and Climate Change.

This three-day workshop, running from September 3–5, brings together a diverse group of experts, including climate scientists, policymakers, and community leaders. The goal is to collaborate on a detailed forecast that will help Kenya’s climate-sensitive sectors prepare for the season ahead.
The forum’s theme is “Climate Services for Closing the Early Warning Gap Together,” and participants include representatives from the State Department for Environment and Climate Change, the IGAD Climate Prediction and Applications Centre (ICPAC), the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), the Kenya Red Cross Society, and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), among others.
