Kampala, Uganda: Applications are now open for the CEHURD Media Fellowship 2026, offering journalists across Uganda the chance to strengthen their reporting on health and human rights.
The fellowship, organised by the Centre for Health, Human Rights and Development (CEHURD), will convene 30 journalists for an intensive training programme scheduled from 25th to 29th May 2026. Participants will gain practical skills in investigative reporting, strategic communication, and gender-responsive storytelling, with a particular emphasis on sexual and reproductive health and rights.
CEHURD says the initiative is grounded in the belief that ethical, well-informed journalism can shape public understanding and accountability around health and human rights issues. The programme will focus on challenges affecting women and girls, encouraging journalists to produce accurate and impactful stories that influence policy and community action.
Applicants must have at least two years of professional experience, a relevant academic background, and a demonstrated interest in health and human rights reporting. Importantly, those who have previously participated in CEHURD fellowships are not eligible.
The fellowship is open to journalists reporting from Kampala Metropolitan (including Mukono), Namayingo, Yumbe, Arua, Buikwe, Kamuli, or Mayuge. Applications should include a completed form and a recommendation letter, submitted to support@cehurd.org and copied to nabunya@cehurd.org, with the subject line Application for Media Fellowship 2026.
The deadline for applications is Friday, 24th April 2026. Only successful candidates will be contacted.
