This dialogue aimed to discuss the importance of integrating air quality and climate information to enhance urban climate resilience in Nairobi City County.
The dialogue was the last of a series of three similar dialogues held in Adis Ababa and Kampala as part of the Clean Air for Enhanced Urban Climate Resilience in Africa focusing on the three cities.
The discussions highlighted the shortage of accurate and comprehensive climate data, which is undermining efforts to make Nairobi and other African cities resilient to the impacts of climate change.
Our programme leader for sustainable urbanization, Romanus Opiyo, emphasized the need for inclusive urban planning and aligning urban development with both climate and public health objectives.
Practitioners called for air pollution to be formally recognized as a climate and disaster risk, integrated into the national early warning framework under the ‘Early Warnings for All’ (EW4ALL) initiative.
